About the Foundation
The APMA Educational Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). The foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the growth and stability of podiatric medicine through student scholarships and increasing nationwide awareness of foot and ankle health.
The APMA Educational Foundation Student Scholarship Fund was established in the 1950s and is the only national scholarship program dedicated to providing scholarships to students studying podiatric medicine. Each year, the foundation receives applications from well-qualified candidates. And our goal is to provide every eligible third- and fourth-year podiatric medical student with a scholarship award. The foundation has awarded scholarships to more than 2,000 graduates to date.
The Student Scholarship Fund is made possible through a multitude of programs, including named endowments, memorials and honors, and special events. Individuals, organizations, or corporations can establish a named endowment in the fund by pledging a minimum of $25,000. Through the Memorials and Honors Program, donations can be made in honor of a person or special event, or in memory of a loved one or colleague. All named endowments and contributions through the Memorials and Honors Program are acknowledged in APMA News.
In addition to providing scholarship funding, the foundation also supports APMA’s educational initiatives through grants that fund programs to provide and promote quality foot health education and support research related to foot health.
APMA’s Department of Development, the department that oversees the foundation, and the foundation staff are dedicated to furthering the goals and mission of the foundation.
